THE SOCIAL INSECTS

IUSSI-temp-logo_edited.png

For over 70 years, the IUSSI has been the global home of social insect biology.

We are the academic society for scientists studying the social insects and other social arthropods in the broadest sense.

Biological research on the social insects is vibrant and diverse, spanning a wide range of fields.

The IUSSI unifies the global community of social insect biologists. Today, social insect biology spans social evolution, behavioural ecology, conservation biology, macroecology, physiology, genomics, agriculture, phylogenetics, taxonomy, biogeography, palaeobiology, pollination ecology, biochemistry, and epidemiology, with extensive cross-talk between fields.
